Welcome! My name is Deanna Harris and I have a passion for helping kids learn and have "light bulb" moments! Here is a little of my story... growing up, I always wanted to become a teacher; however, as a young adult, I chose a different path - accounting.  I worked in Accounting/Human Resources for about 10 years before I decided to stay at home, with my now 12 year old son.  When he started Kindergarten, my passion for the classroom was reignited! I spent a lot of time volunteering at school!! Volunteering turned into substitute teaching and then into becoming a third grade teacher's assistant.  Once in that position, I KNEW that helping students learn was my calling and passion.  I got the opportunity to work with students one on one and in small groups to help them work through many different learning obstacles.  At the time, I lived in Virginia and decided that I was going to go back to school to complete my teaching degree! I began that journey, all while continuing to gain experience in the classroom as a teacher’s assistant.  I made it through about 90% of my teaching program at Old Dominion University when my family had to relocate to Texas for my husband’s job.  Unfortunately, I could not complete my program outside of the state of Virginia.  Due to this move, I had to change my major from Education to Leadership.  I will graduate this coming May with a BS in Leadership; although the majority of my credits came from teaching and education courses.  In addition to my college education; I had also taken and passed the Praxis I & II exams, and the Virginia Communication & Literacy Assessment – all of which are required examinations for a teaching licensure in Virginia.  

Building relationships & connecting with students to find what helps them learn is my passion! I would love to help your child work through trouble content and help them love to learn!
